Pre-Engagement & Pre-Marital Counseling

As relationships grow and commitments towards you and your partner become stronger, the thought of marriage and spending the rest of your lives together can become a logical next step. This is a very exciting and important time in your life and the life of your partner.

Services I provide stem from the works of Dr. Gary Chapman. I first work to set up a space for open communication where you learn what each of you is looking for in a relationship. Second, we explore both of your specific love languages as well as other information to help build long lasting and meaningful connections to one another.

These services include discussing important topics relevant to building a strong foundation; such as, understanding each other’s needs, understanding how to disagree without fighting or arguing, and understanding the importance of apologizing and how to apologize so your partner feels understood. Working to succeed at these and other skills is a great place to start a proper understanding of what it takes to create and maintain a happy, healthy, and lifelong marriage.

With this in mind, typical Pre-Marital counseling sessions consist of both partners being present; however, I am also happy to offer individual or pre-engagement counseling.

Pre-engagement counseling is typically geared towards someone who wants to confirm that they are ready before “popping the question” and not jumping into something they are unsure of.
This can also benefit someone who wants to learn more about himself/herself to see where they feel they are in their relationship and if marriage is something they are ready for.
